As in right now i have as stock LS havnt done a compression test yet not sure whats the easiest way to do it. but last owner said it was high compression. I want to make it an LS vtech but i dont know what would be better the b16 sir head i have or a gsr that i would need to buy. What would be better?
use the b16a head, you have it. the difference between the 2 heads insnt enough to justify wasting money and time to get it.
also it's vtec you have the b16a head, read the valve cover.

My 97' spec CTR head is PR3-1 and 98+PR3 heads can be -2,3,or4
All B16 and Type-R heads are PR3. Now to find the year look on the front of the head on the lower left hand just above the exhaust ports and there should be some double digit numbers that are upside down or sideways. The first two will tell you the manufactures date of that casting.
Some times it's covered by the factory headshield so you have to look closely. The numbers are also divided by a / so it should look like this (9/1)= 91'or (9/4)=94' ect. . </TD></TR></TABLE>
this is how to find out the year of the heads
props from jdmboyef9 for the info on a differend thread
