Default Reset ECU after installing intake? Necessary?

Hey guys, the title says it all.. but I'll elaborate a little. I read somewhere that you should reset the ECU after installing an intake. Is this something I should do? What exactly would this be doing anyway? I Don't really understand how it would change anything.

I heard you can do so by removing the ecu and backup fuse, rather than disconnecting the battery and waiting (and having to set your clock and radio again)

Any opinions on the Injen Short Ram would be greatly appreciated as well. Any problems with it? Rubbing issues? Do you like it? Do you like another intake better? I've done my research and know that most of you will probably tell me to get an ebay+k&n, but I don't mind spendin the dough.

Thanks in advance!

(btw, I'm driving a 2000 base)

i dont see a need for this. ive never reset an ecu on any car that ive put on nor a friend put on. I would say go with ebay + K&N + BPi. thats what im buying soon.

No need to reset the ECU.
Get a Type-S intake & K&N filter.

Thanks for the advice.. looks like I wont be wasting my time and resetting the ECU.

I was actually considering the type-s intake for a while and would've bought it had it been in stock at that time. I eventually decided against it though.. just looked too stock. Yea it's just a superficiality, but it's not like it's the best known for performance either.

M2B4, I've seen people mention the BPI, but never explain what the heck it is... soo, what is it?

Any other opinions?

Awesome, thanks a lot. So the BPI flowstack basically just rounds the inner edge of the filter for smoother air flow? Do you really notice anything with it?

You should be able to use it with other intakes/filters as long as the sizing is correct, right? The BPI site says "the VS300600 is designed for a filter with a 6" flange and an intake tubing diameter of 3."

yes u can use it with another intake. but the reasoning behind the ebay intakes is that a pipe is a pipe is a pipe. y spend $250 on a pipe with an aem sticker when u can buy the same pipe with no sticker for $10 on ebay.

Thanks for all the input guys.

I did some more research and found that the Injen filter has a built in velocity stack. So shouldn't it be basically just as good, if not better, as a ebay+K&N+stack? So are there really any other advantages to the ebay package? I know it doesn't make sense to go with the injen if the ebay package offers the same performance, but I'm superficial like that

get the ebay intake and the K&N filter with BPI. plenty of people have tested all of the intakes and basically the K&N with BPI comes back with the best results.. or best over-all results.
