When to reset the ECU...
Sup everyone! I'm a newbie here - I've actually migrated from customcivics.com where I am a moderator.
Anyways, I've had an AEM short ram intake on my car for a few months now, but I recently heard that when installing an aftermarket intake it was a good idea to reset the ECU. I've heard of people doing this with a cool air intake, but is it necessary with the short ram? Thanks in advance!

haha jk..
you can reset the ecu if you go into the engine bay, and look for the fuse box on the passengerside shock tower. Look on the diagram for the ECU fuse. With the car off completely, take out the ECU fuse for about a minute, then put it back in...presto, reset ecu.
or you can undo the battery terminals and reset EVERYTHING in your car....radio settings too
its up to you..

Resseting the ECU after a mod is pure BULLSHIT! The ECU will relearn itself. The ECU has set fuel/timing maps for WOT adjusted for IAT, MAP, and BAR. That is it!
I have owned my car for about a year and a half now.Prior to yesterday I had never reset the ecu. I have installed a new fuel pump and an air filter since i bought it. I reset the ecu yesterday and the car runs so much better. Seriously it is night and day difference. No surging, smooth throttle all the way through......starts really fast. So dont tell me the ecu doesnt do anything. It helped me to do this. Seriously ressetting the thing has made more improvememnt on my car than anything else.

You don't necessarily HAVE to reset the ECU after adding a mod to your car. If you reset the ECU it will adjust itself right away to the new addtion to the car but if you don't, I am told that it will adjust itself over a 3 day period.
