I think it's safe to say that 90% of the cam failures are due to not properly torquing down the cam rail bolts or the cam gear bolts.

Unless they are Crower...

Just remember 20 ft/lb. when you are doing cams. That's how tight the rails have to be. I forgot what the gear bolts are. I think 42 or 44, but I am not sure.

Hey Mike,
Jun fixed my head, but they made me sign a confidentiality agreement. They included a report on why the cam broke, and it was not because of that. I just wish that I could spill the beans

We are all not dumb. We sent the cams to a lab to test..and know all about it.

Nothing to do with dumb install error, not using JUn valvetrain, coil bind, etc..

I am so sick and tired of that line of bull. "you don't have the valvetrain, oh thats why they broke"

That is the biggest line of crap, and an insult. I stopped tolerating it many many months ago.

2 sets broke, and not a god damn thing has been done about it, no new sets, nothing. They have had 1 set for a year. Not doing anything about it. Because they blame us for it...

I still stick by though, that JUN 3 cams make the most power or close to the most power, of any cam you can buy on earth for your Honda.

Jeff,

Did you ever do a test on one built motor with say 12:1 compression and spec c's vs. jun 3's with equal tuning? I'd be interested in seeing that.

Here's what I know:

At least 3 sets of Jun 3 cams broke into multiple pieces in the head of several cars (in CA and on the east coast). NONE of these were installation errors, and all of these cams were through JUN usa... I know of several jdm JUN cam installs that have been running for YEARS now without any problems. I believe it is b/c there was a batch of cams the US distributor got that were possibly flawed or something.....

It is agreed that they make good power - that's why skunk ripped off the design.....

If I was set on getting some JUN cams, I'd get the spec 3's directly from Japan just to be safe.

Jeff, I am sure that you remember me emailing you to ask you about how JUN dealt with your broken cams. They were good in dealing with me. Check out this post https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=190828

Well I've heard rumors that Jun cams are not billet at all. On top of that, Jun doesn't even make the cores....
