Default D Series Clutch Question...

Well, as some of you know, I'm putting a D16Y8 into my 89 CRX, and the 89 clutch kit does not work. The pressure plate is too small, it does not bolt to the flywheel. I was wondering If I could use the y8 clutch disk and pressure plate, as well as the 89 throwout bearing with my 89 tranny. Would there be any problems with this setup? thanks!

yes it will work, you need to use d16y8 flywheel, pressure plate and clutch disk, and for using your stock 89 tranny u need to use the 89 throw out bearing.

that setup will work

will be fine since they are both D series based trannies. good luck

I thought that the y8 clutch parts would not work because it is for a hydro tranny.

Yeah, I'm sure that the release bearing is different, but the clutch and pressure plate should work with the y8 flywheel, I believe, because they're all d series parts anyways. I was just looking for verification...

everything should work from what i said above, only difference between hydro and cable clutch type trannies is how the clutch pushes out the slave piston to push on the clutch...

the tranny he uses, and the D16Y8 will bolt up though since the tranny is designed to fit a D-series block, along with the D16Y8 won't be a problem.

I'm not sure if you have an Si or DX (I believe the Si is 5 speed, not sure though) but as for the DX, I believe it's 4 speed, and if you have the 4 speed with a D16Y8, that's gotta suck ;x

Yeah I've got an SI, so the tranny should be well matched to the engine. I hope. Thanks for the help, guys!
