Default Electrical Issue?

I got in my car tonight and my CD was ejected like the battery died. I started the car no problems. No trouble turning on, all lights were bright, heat was working correctly, and the car had full power. The car asked for the radio code and the clock was out of wack so I fixed it and left.

About 25 minutes later I was driving down a back road and turned on my high beams and I felt the car jump and the CD skipped. That is the only other thing that happened the entire night besides stated in the first paragraph. Any ideas as to what it could be?

The car has....

An Optima yellow top battery
6000k HIDS

The only thing I can think of is the HID power wire is run right from the battery and is pulling alot of power out of the battery. Or a bad HID ground is messing with the entire car?

Clean the battery terminals, and check all of your engine bay grounds. Sounds like you have a bad ground, or a short somewhere.

Check any aftermarket wiring you have for kinks or anything like that.

Check the ground to the chassis near the battery (make sure it is VERY tight). Mine was loose awhile back and my radio would randomly shut off and give me the CODE light. Not quite the same as your issue but Id check it at least.

yeah.. sounds like a grounding issue, probably from the HIDs, but I'd check them all.

On my yellow top IIRC the base of the posts was fatter, or had a lip or something, and my terminals didnt go down as far, and occasionally I would hit a bump and the neg terminal would hit the hood and my electrical system would freak out for a moment. I had some "weird" electrical problems and after the fact I realized it was the yellow tops way of telling me it was dying. How long have you had the battery?

The same thing happened to my civic w/aftermarket hids. I just took them out and that solved the problem.

I'm not really sure, it was in the car when I bought it.

I had HID's in my old gsr for over a year and I never had any problem.

The car was fine all day today and I didn't check any connections it was to cold
