if i buy a salvaged car and swap engines, would that be worth it?
would it be street legal?
how about insurance, would it be cheaper?

make sure your are buying the car 'for parts 'a parts car is worth less to the insurance co.but if you buy as a car ,it will be more

 

that means, how much cheaper? and do i ahve to tell them about my eng swap? cuz i think ill get the swap after insurance.

I dont know about the insurance or anything like that, but if you do decide to sell your car a salvaged title is not good at all, that makes people very nervous about buying your car. I dont think its worth it unless you are buying it strictly for parts.

if i get a salvaged hb and swap an egine in it, ill keep this car for a good 5 years.

 

if you buy a salvage car your registration will say "SALAVAGE TITLE", thas all..its just wen you go and sell/ trade the car to like a dealer it wont be worth as much as a "CLEAR TITLE". The insuracne wont really matter, they dont care too much about whats under the hood. You car must first pass the registration first, the inspection bureau might ask what have you done to it as in modification if they see a different engine has been swapped, then you might have to do an emsiion test. Also you will need picture of the damage of the vehicle and what has been done (carry all receipts with you too). I have a salavaged car, but it wasnt really a badly damage car- just a minor collison to the front d-side. I think its worth it IMO.

 

some insurance wont even cover(full cover) salvage cars

I'd be very cautious about buying a salvaged car in the first place unless you got tons of cash and a lot of time to get it fixed.

some most have front damage...
if u want a cheap salvage title car..
go to a local auction..theyd tell u exactly whats wrong with it..
ive seem some really cheap prices..

 

That is the process that I am in now.
I just bought a salvage 96 Civic DX 3 weeks ago
It will be done and freshly painted in about 3 more weeks
You can get a clean tile for the car, all you have to do is when you buy the car
take 4 pictures of it (front, back and both sides) and then when you are finished with the car it had to be inspected by a certified machanic and take four more pics. Then make sure you have all the VIN numbers from the cars that you have taken parts from so they can be checked. Then take all then info and pics to the main transportation office in your state and apply for a clean tile. That is the process in PA, I am not sure about other states.

 

i think the process is different in all states. I wonder if you get a new "clean title" for a car, will carfax show the previous salvage title?? Maybe you can have someone run your vin since you know your previous salvage title car now has a clean title.

If you have a salvage title, you can only get liability, no comprehensive coverage. This is true for most, if not all insurance company.
