Clutch trouble - very hard to put it in reverse? Whats this mean?
This morning I started my Si and went to back out of my driveway. After 5 minutes of trying to put it in reverse I still couldn't get it shift into reverse. Finally I manganged to get it in reverse. It was very hard and did not want to get in that gear....
What does this mean?
Never had any other problems and the other gears are fine and I don't have any problems shifting in or out of them.

I've had that happen to me on occasion as well. Whenever that happens, try putting the car into 1st gear and then into reverse. That works for me.
not an expert on this, but im pretty sure ur reverse gear has no synchro. that's why sometimes its hard to get in and wen u try to force it in quick it grinds. just put it into another gear first and then quickly go back to R. common problem for hondas i believe. but dont quote me...
Most trannys don't have a synchro for reverse so you have to make sure your car is at dead stop before shifting into reverse. Putting it into 1st also helps.
On 92+ Integra transmissions, reverse has a synchro and will be much easier to put into reverse.

OK I tried all of the above but that didn't help. It is now almost impossible to get the car in reverse. THis is definitely not normal. The one time I did get it in reverse, I almost couldn't get it back out.

If I'm on a hill, and have this problem, I will let off the brake and roll in one direction. You don't have to roll far, just enough to let the tranny (word choice) "un-bind" itself. It will usually slide right in afterwards.

my civic doesn't like to go in reverse...sometimes its hard to put it in that gear. I got a short shifter and I'd say that helped it a little, since before it would only go half way and the gears would grind. I am in the group buy for some shifter bushings...it usually helps me to put it in 4th...then R
I have tried all the suggestions but it is does not help. Reverse is the only gear that doesn't work. The rest work fine. It seems to be getting harder and harder to put it in reverse...what could this be?
In my old accord, I read the owner's manual and it said if you are having
trouble putting it in reverse, put it in 4th then reverse. I have been doing
that since I read that and it seems to work almost all of the time.

Since my car is still under warranty do you think they will fix it? I have a JRSC. I can see how the dealership could say that the FI could screw up the normal gears, but reverse?
