Default Shift-linkage roll pin.

I'm having one hell of a time removing it this time. A friend of mine put it in las time while I was grabbing a bite to eat (his car at the time) and mushroomed the it going in from the bottom. I ground the pin down so I could take the linkage off and pull the motor (no biggie I thought, shiftlikage was rusty and ragged anyhow) I have the tranny off of the motor now and the pin is still stuck. I haven't tried heating it, but its next on my list. My question is do you guys have any ideas?

Crappy pics of roll pin.

Can I grind the verticle pin and then put a bolt through that part with a new linkage?

if you have the tranny off, knock it out from the top instead of the bottom. use a punch though, it makes it 10x easer (though it still sucks to do)

I'm going to pick up a punch set with the correct size punch today. The screwdriver method from the top didn't work for me yesterday.

Another question. Rubber mallet, deadblow, 2lb hammer. Which whould be better to use?

Any 8mm bolt will knock that out or you could pick up the tool that sp and matco makes.

Thanks for the tip on the 8mm bolt. When I head to school I am going to pick up an extra long one so I will have room to hit it and not hit the tranny casing.

This might sound a little extreme but it mine was really stuck and space was limited. A punch works perfect to put it in but getting it to stay on the spot is tricky. I took a long philips screwdriver that was the perfect size, the tip helped to hold it in. Stuck the screwdriver on top of my axle nut socket and aligned that under the car on the pin. Slowly lowered my car and "ping" (yea it really made that sound) it popped out. Just gotta listen to were it lands to find it.

If i'm hearing right then you already have out and in that case a more commonly found screwdriver might help keep it align while you whack the hell out of it.
