well i recently bought a 95 Civic DX and there is a pretty nasty sound coming from the motor.. my friends say that it sounds like one of those everglades propeller boat fans...



ya pretty embarassing BUT anyway does anyone know what this sound could be??

my brother said it could be a spun bearing or my crank pulley but i have no idea... any help would be appreciated.. thanks

 

are you sure its not exhaust leak?

 

Can you describe the noise any better? Does it sound like a knock, screech, grinding noise? If you spun a bearing, you would hear a very distinctive knocking noise coming from the bottom end.

maybe mixed with bad valve lash

 

ya it knocks when im at low RPMs and when im accelerating.. so a spun bearing??... at least its a D-Series so i can get another longblock for like $250

 

does it sound like a click?
