Default No start on a cd5

my 95 lx is acting up. i got to work and i turned off the car, i tried to put it on the "ON" position and there was no power. I tried 2 start it up and there was nothing it wouldnt even crank over nothing electrical was working not even the power door locks. i checked the battery and i had 12.65v. i let the car sit for about 2hrs then i went back and it started up, sounded like it had trouble starting up. i tried 2 start it up a couple more times and it fired right up.

I'd look at either your ignition switch, or the relays. Also, make sure your ECU has secure connections.

battery and cable connections?
Does the starter 'click' or just a sound of silence?

if your not getting any sound at all, your battery is most likely dead. however, if you hear a clicking sound, your starter is failing.

I know its not the starter because i dont hear any clicking noise. the battery connections are all good. i think it may be the ignition switch. for one i have a hard time turning the key and it sometimes gets stuck. what do u guys think?

Well I think you might be on the right track. [Sure, Now we get the rest of the story]
Maybe remove the steering column shroud and check the electrical connections on the back of the switch to see if one of them looks overheated or 'frosty'.
You can always turn the key to the 'on' and go under hood and jumper from the start motor connection to the starter solenoid wire to make it crank over.

Thanks for a all the info. and i didnt give u the full story becaus eif i would have mentioned the problem with the switch everyone would have automatically said that was the problem. i wanted a process of elimination. anyway i got to thinking it may not be the ignition switch thats just the problem for a few good reasons,

1.I have the key in the (on) position and i have no power what so ever, no power locks or nothing

2. i went over to the battery and i moved around both the positive and the neagative battery cables a little and the car started right up when i went to try it.

I say its bad battery conections and an ignition switch going bad. If i go to buy a new ignition swith what do i ask for? just the ignition switch? also where can i buy both the negative and positive battery cables?

maybe go to walmart or anywhere and get a battery terminal cleaner, not the spray (well that too wouldnt hurt ) but the little metal deal with like a wire brush inside and scrub the battery terminals, and also the cables, or just get a metal toothbrush lookin thing, but the terminals supposed to be shiny, thats a wierd broblem, but the cheapest thing u can do is spill some coke(not diet, not dr pepper or w/e) on the battery terminal,, finish drinkin ur coke then rinse it off

yea everything u stated was some of the first things i did. Its my own fault. a while back my terminals where all coroded and i switched them out. I had 2 cut some of the battery cables so i can get some good clean wire for good current to run through. and i kinda mickey moused it. now the owres are too short. i need new ones. should i just go to autozone and get new ones or where can i buy some good quality cables.

Also can some one answer my question about th eignition swith. when i go to buy the part do i just ask for and ignition switch?

if you want cheap good cable for your battery connections, id use something like a zero gauge for audio setups. they are made for higher voltage and amperage. get like 2-3 feet of it so your safe.

as for the switch, a place like auto zone should be able to bring it up on they're screen. picture and all. just ask for "ignition switch" and if they give you a dumb look, say, "you know, the thing-a-majig that u put ur key in, turn it, and start the car"
good luck man
