A while ago, i bought a 97 JDM ITR tranny but it had no vin number and i don't believer there was a serial sticker for the tranny (i can't check right now cause it's stored in a really secure crate at a friend's house who's now out of town)... it did have the holes for the vin plate... whether it originally had one or not, i'm not sure. I definitely trusted the seller. My question is whether or not that year tranny would have had VIN plates? Any suggestions or advice? I'm in Kansas City right now, but I plan on possibly moving back to california in a couple years where the CHP would be much harder to get by.

JDM trannies don't have the VIN plate. Just two holes where it would be.

 

so... what would i say if a CHP officer pulled me over?

 

you better pray you have papers for the tranny.

jdm has no vin plate, but it does have either a lsd j4d or lsd n3e stamped on it with a s80xxxxxxxx code sticker

 

take the sticker off your old tranny and put it over the holes. just a thought
