Default stock JDM b18c and b18cr passing smog in cali

Will either one of these motors pass smog stock?
People that have had the motor and attempted smog would be helpful. Thanks

USDM b18c motors should easily pass the smog check if they are stock. Just make sure the CEL light is not on. JDM b18c need a little tweaking though.

well obd1 has nothing to do with it for me. My car is obd1 stock and for any motor to run, it has to be obd1 or use the obd1 injectors/dizzy/ecu. So what you said really has no point regarding why or why not a motor would not pass.

Just run your stock US spec ECU and you should be fine.

Also make sure your car is full opererating temp and the cat is hot.

okay for one your an idiot. And next what you said about obd1 was false. What if the car was obd2 or obd0. Than making the car obd1 to pass or how you like to call it "tweaking", made no damn sense. You would need to use the stock ecu, not convert it to obd1 to pass.

Next time if you don't know what you are talking about, don't reply.

Its pretty easy to make a jdm obd I motor to pass smog in ca. All you have to do is swap some of the obd II sensors from your other engine and run you stock ecu.

ive heard the reason u cant smog jdm blocks is cause they dont have numbers (b18c, b18cr) like the us blocks (B18c1, b18c5) is this true?

First I hate to thread jack but I think it's better than starting a new one. hazw8st- To clarify:I currently have a jdm b18c in my 94 teg. All the sensors are plugged in correctly, evap canister and all lines are connected, stock exhaust manifold and exhaust system and a new o2 sensor and new catalytic converter. All I need is the P72 ECU correct? Or am I over looking anything??? Any help is greatly appreciated because I want to do it right the first time.
