Default Sensor in tranny....?

I have a '90 LS Auto teg and lately it has been havin some issues. I will put it in park after driving and i won't be able to get the key out and then the other day i couldn't get it out of park. So i sat there the other day and i noticed that the park light on the dash doesn't light up right away so once it does the key comes right out or i am able to get out of park. What sensor would be causing this b/c not only is it annoying but it is also embarassing when it happens at gas stations and things of that sort. Please help....also does anyone know where to find a free manual for this vehicle?

If the key gets stuck go down the gears and then try to put it back in park, or try pushing the shifter until it clicks to make sure the thing is in park. Have you made sure that the tranny has plenty of fluid. As far as the brake light you might want to check the rear brakes to make sure that there good.

its not uncommon, my '92 does it, but only in the cold. i don't know the fix, and i looked into this a while back. changing the ignition cylinder wasn't the fix.

I just leave the engine running, in park, til the P lights up, then pull the key out. the colder it is, the longer i wait. If its really cold, and it takes longer than a minute, i leave the key there.
