im still trying to put in my cv joints i looked inside of the transmission and the cv joint wont go in all of the way because there is a bar across the part where the shaft goes, witch blocks the cv joint from going all of the way in. i took the old shaft and put it in and i worked the only problem is that i messed up the treads on it so i cant put on the bolt to lok it in place

if anybody knows what this is please help. i miss my car BAD!!!

 

the bar is part of the differential, the axles will go all the way in they just need to be played with a little, try wiggleing and tapping with rubber hammer. the way i did it was to put the one end as far in the tranny as it will go, put the other in the spindle, put the nut on (finger tight) and use the whole hub assembly for momentum, with some tapping and a push the axle will go in.

 

what i find does the trick, is when putting in the CV
hold the outer end and push/pull like a plunger, and it should go in and you'll hear a click (c-clip)

post a pic of your old axle, how bad are the threads? if your lucky u can re-tap it

dude, did you eat your wheaties this morning?

push hard, well that doesn't seem to work, so you can do what i do when this happens. go ahead and put the outer part of the axle through the spindle. now the spindle will hold the axle in place, take a hammer and slightly hit a numerous amount of times. this will eventually get the axle in the tranny.

but don't hit the axle too hard or you can break you cv joint. i learned the hard way.

 

i finally got it in the rubber mallet workes great. i dont know why i forgot to do that. i did it on a crapiler once. i love this website everybody here is so knowlegable and helpful
