ECU JUMPING
having problems jumping my ecu to check a code. im a b series guy and dont know much about the d series ecu. i think im jumping it right but dont know what the hell i looking for. help a dumbass out peeps. thanks
Has nothing to do with ecu's. You have to jump an electrical connector. It's right above the ecu. i think there is two, plugged into a plastic holder. I can't remember, and i sure as hell am not going out into the single digit cold *** snowy weather to check, but i think its green. Put a paper clip into the connector.
ok here is the deal. my head gasket blew do to to much boost. i have a 98 turbo'd D16y8 with a obd-2 to 0bd-1 conversion. also i have a CTR cluster. the car was working great before i had the problems. after we did the gasket(cometic 75.5mm and arp headstuds) it seems like its in a safe mode. like its reserved for something. like im blowing a code.
in order to jump the ecu you take a wire and you will see two connectors under the dash where your ecu is usally they are blue. take the wire make sure it is stripped to work. put the one end in the left slot of one connector and the other end in the other slot to the right. you can tell this connector is the right one becuase it has to holes next to each other the other will not im pretty sure. after the wire is connected you turn your key to the on position. don't start it and it will blink out your code. long blinks are 10 and short are 1. good luck and i hope it works for you.

solid light you say. is it in limp mode? can it rev past 3500?
soild light, like said above is a bad ecu, bad program or bad grounds. i dont think there is anything else that can cause a solid.

yeah it just stays solid. and im pretty sure that its not the ecu. and yes its in limp mode. so it might be the ground. i can check that and see if that works. thanks for all the help. if anybody has anything else that would help out on this let me hear it
