Default what are people reving LS/vtec at

I am about to convert my LS, with a GSR head, the car is boosted, the head and bottom end are both completely stock, i just want some input on what guys are reving these LS/vtec conversations at safely. I realise u can t rev them to like 8500rpm or anything, but in past experiences what is a safe rev limiter, and still getting good power, and help would be appreciated, thanks

I have a LS/VTEC with forged rods, forged pistons, KMS dual valve springs, titanium retainers, and black nitride coated valves and I rev mine to 9000 rpms. I know the owner from full-race has a LS/VTEC and he revs to 9800. If you have the right parts you can pretty much rev as high as you want as long as you're making power.

I am goign to rev mine to 8200 or whenever it stops making power, whichever comes first, at the track.
Stock block and GSR head.
Daily driven I wont be revving higher than 7k rpm.

Despite what ^ thinks, you don't need to rev to the moon! I doubt he even makes power after 9k! I know a guy like ^ who revs to 10k that is slow as hell. He's more concerned about how high he gets, then he is about me 30 cars ahead of him.

Sure we were talking about reving a built engine higher, but we were just saying how you can rev a good bit higher with changing just a few things in the motor.

well i rev stock ls' to about 7300-7400, so i think you can do that with an lsvtec also.

daily driven doesnt mean you have to smash the rev limiter every time you drive it

I was completely kidding. I guess its hard to portray sarcasm over the internet.
I was more just making fun of the people who were answering the question with how high they rev their fully built engines to, when paolo's asking about a STOCK ls bottom end.
I'd take mine to 8000 if i had one, actually i'm building one, and it'll be going to 8500 with arp rod bolts, balanced to 8500.

ive built and seen a lot of this combination. i personally wouldnt take it past 8k on a regular basis. will it hold more? sure it will. keeping it on the somewhat safe side is just for the longetivity of the motor

oh and glad to hear you guys with fully built motors can rev like a motorcycle....lol, why dont we have a f'in **** contest while were at it....

thats what my tuner recommended aswell 8000rpm, its not like in going to shift that high everyday , every shift at 8000rpm, only when trying to get max power, i justed wanted to see what other guys were doing in regards to this topic, i am aware u can shift as high as u want, but i want a reliable set up, and i want my motor to last a long time, i just put it in a couple months ago, so im trying to make it a keeper, no more otor swaps

shall we ?

i have a bone stock ls/vtec in my car right now. it was turbo'd for 2 months before i sold the kit to another HT user. i rev'd that bish to 8500 when it was turbo'd... but now that its NA again the pos feels like it falls on its face aroun 7500, so i dont really take it much past there. but it does see 8k damn near everyday !!

our race engine LS/vtec see's 10,500 @ the track. next season will be a whole new ball game, being that we have cams that might actually carry the power. the power with the stock gsr cams was falling off after 9250

I have a stock block/internals boosted ls/vtec and I take mine to 8200. Its my daily driver so it rarely sees that. Did the coversion 9 months ago and went turbo 3 months ago. But i do have to tell you that I pretty much hold my breath when taking it that high. I consider my self lucky that its held-up this long.
