Default spring/shock install help

I pulled the front spring/shock assembly and was trying to take off the 5mm hex shock mount bolt to get the spring off. I wd40 it because it was so rusty looking, bought a 5mm socket and tried to remove it. It's starting to strip out, it must be totally rusted together. I tried to do the other side while it was still on the car and it also wont budge. Is there another way around it? Heat? Or am I screwed and will have to buy another assembly?
