I believe a cai will make slightly more power than a short ram, however an intake alone doesnt give much of a hp boost and i doubt that the difference will be noticable.
Lately a lot of people have been using a short ram + bpi flow stack and seem to like that.
Both should be fine for engine life, only thing is a cai can lead to hydrolock if you haven to drive in deep water. That being said Ive used a cai on a lowered car before and didnt have any issues, it has to be a pretty damn deep puddle.
You say you have them both, I'd just test them both out and see which one you like the best.

Weld them both together... I mean two intakes are better than one right?

Short Ram FTW!!!!!

It's all up to you really. You won't get a straight forward answer on this topic. If you have both, try the short for one week and then switch to the cold air intake, and then you decide which one you like the best.

here's an idea, if you have both, why not just try each of them on and see which one you like better? that we don't have to spoon feed it to you and you actually learn something about your car along the way. and i mean, cmon how long does it take to stick a pipe in there.. gg
