Water leak in trunk?
It's been raining for the past two days and today I opened the trunk of my car, 99 civic sedan, and noticed that the carpet is soaked with water.
Is this a common problem? Where could the leak be coming from?
TIA

90% of the time water is trunk are due to tail light gasket. It's leaking thru the tail lights. You can buy new gaskets from Honda, they aren't too expensive.

It can be one of five possibilities:
1) Tail light gasket. Have a friend fold your seats down and sit in your trunk with all the panels removed and use a flashlight. Then spray the tail lights from all angles with a high-pressure hose.
2) Trunk Seal. Repeat above steps, except spray the edges of the trunk.
3) Spoiler Seals (if you have a spoiler). Repeat above steps, except spray under the spoiler.
4) Moonroof Drains (if you have a moonroof). Repeat above steps, except pour a bucket of water over your closed moonroof, and check for leaks on the inside of the rear "fender" area.
5) Rear Window Seal. Repeat above steps, except perform a leak test. It usually happens on the sides, so start with the right side or the left side. Pour from the top of the side. If it drips, the dry it off, and then pour from the bottom. Move up until it leaks again. Viola! You've found your leak.

You take the tail light off, take the gasket off, put on the new gasket, put the tail light back on.
