My idle in my D15 civic is jumping between about 900rpms and 2000rpms when i start the car until i shut it off. It mainly goes on while the car is in park or neutral or when i am slowing down. Then sometimes when i am driving and i slow down it begans to jump and my car starts to take off.. I need help.. please respond... oh yeah i just swapped the engine replaced all the vaccuum hoses did most of the sensors and i can not find out whats wrong.....no performance parts on just exhaust and all motor.. please help...

 

idle control valve its the thing on the back of the intake manifold. near the tps.

 

Check if the gasket on yout TB is smaller...If it is replace it with one that fits...had the same problem you did and changed the gasket to the right size and i was good to go

 

at first when i got the motor it didnt have a gasket between the two.... i just replaced the gasket.... so just change the gasket its brand new.... n it should work right

 

i tried the idle control valve i have replaced it and it was not that... would that cause it to bounce back n forth or could it be the wire that goes to the idle control sensor because i just tried to remove that wire with the car start and it started to rev my engine til i had the wire all the way off then it went back to doing the bouncing idle.

 

Sounds like a vaccum leak, check the throttle body gasket/

 

it also sounds like it could be your fast idle thermo valve or fitv if your car is 92-95. my civic was doing the same thing and I change out just about everthing. I then took off the fitv and cleaned it out. that didnt change a thing. so I thought maybe it was bad. so I made a block off plate for the fitv and put it on. no more idle problems at all. my friends car was doing the same thing so I made another one and it fixed it to. did you ever pull the head off, iit may just be your timing, the cam could be a couple teeth off of time or so
