SO i bought an Ex Tranny to replaced my longer geared DX tranny. The clutch on my dx feels more than fine to me, i can start in second with no problems at all. I haven't even opened the box to see if my new tranny has a clutch on it.

Should I go ahead and buy a new clutch/flywheel? Or use the one I have?

 

If you have the money, I would go ahead and get a new clutch while you've got the transmission off. It just makes you feel a little bit better knowing that you won't have to take your transmission off again anytime soon.

The new transmission most likley will not have a new clutch in it.

I would get a replacement exedy clutch off ebay for cheap and have the oem flywheel resurfaced by a machine shop.
You will be looking at it as it is, might as well do it...since its a pain in the *** otherwise.
Yes, if you replace the clutch and pressure plate, use new pilot and throw out bearing too.

 

Well, if I'm going to buy a new clutch, should I go ahead and upgrade the flywheel? I'm planning on turboing in a year or so. Will a lighter flywheel benefit?

while its off you might as well get it done

Yeah, and I'll get a lighter flywheel too. Just for the hell of it. It'll be there for boost then.

I found a package on ebay, Pilot bearing, clutch, and 8lb flywheel for like $210

 

I'm surprised that no one has said rear main seal yet. I mean since your at it might as well right.

TOB & the PB is a must, that is something you should not go cheap on unless your clutch is new that is but then again just inspects it and see what your wallet tells ya.

 

Definately replacing the TOB and the pilot.

This kit comes with pilot bearing, clutch kit and 8lbs flywheel.

Where should I get my TOB from? dealer?

 

Dealer is a bit pricy but check at your local Auto parts store to see if it's they are made my NSK.

NSK is Honda uses.

Nappa should have NSK brand, I think.

 

So NSK TOB, there's an autozone just down the road, I'll have to check later today.

 

Just did a search and if you know anyone that works at the dealership you can get that **** for $37.00 for the TOB.

 

Yeah i'll hit a dealership up. These's only 3-4 honda dealers withing 10 minutes.

I'm definately replacing the main seal. It's part of the swap job.

Tokyo speed pros is doing the swap and all for $200 w/ fluids./

I never work on it. And I'm away from home for a few months and don't have any decent jackstands. Not to mention I don't have hardly any of the right tools.
