Ummm... next time, turn your car off ASAP. If the level is ok, then check your oil pump. I'm not sure what all would make that light go off other than low or no pressure. Did you hear any ticking or anything?
Edit : I wouldn't even start that thing until I got it figured out. Check your ECU for codes and get back to us
(Take a paper clip and on the right side under your glove box should be a plastic clip with two wires coming out of it, jump the wires together with the paperclip and turn the ign. to ON (without starting the engine) and count the code, should show up on the Check Engine light)

wait for someone who knows what they are doing
I'm just trying to give you some hope here to be honist. I work on VW engines more than I work on my honda. I'm talking about the old skool flat fours so anything I say will be non-computer related mainly.

I am alittle confused about checking the code Never done it before
My engine light was also on but this usually happens every 10,000 miles or so then i push and hold the button under my steering wheel but i haven't done that yet......so both the check engine light and Oil light are on

Chris It just kept flashing , I didn't keep the car on long enough to see whether it stayed on or not...........should i be worried?
that's really odd your oil light came on, you need an oil change anyways.
usuallythe oil light does not come on unless you are dry and ur oil pump is pumping nothing.
if u don't have oil in ur engine then u are either leaking oil or burning oil.
how many miles do you have on it?
if ur burning oil, do a compression test, if ur leaking oil, do a leakdown test, or you might as well do both on those to see exactly what is going on.

I remember seeing that devil of a light... right before my engine kieled over and died. It worked out for the best though so I'm not gonna cry about ti like I did at first. Good Luck

Yeah, just be careful dude. When that light comes on and stays on, you have practically nothing left.
That happened once a long time ago when I waited like 13K miles for a change.
I drove it home slowly and put in 4 quarts before it even showed on the dipstick.
4 quarts dude! Having it 1 quart low is bad. Just be careful.

I burn 1.5 QUARTS in 20 minutes on the track (I am about to do my oil rings in a couple weeks). I NEVER have seen the light, and I have problems dropping out of VTEC because of lack of oil. I see none on the dipstick...yet I STILL have NOT seen the light..
my point.. if the light does come on, most likely its too late...
look for leaks... also check your bumper.. if its all black you might be burning it..
I suggest a leakdown and compression check.

Well i checked it and was alittle confused. My dipstick is broken so that I might have been getting false readings. On one reading i found I HAD NO OIL, but on another I had a low amount. So I put in two quarts of 10w 30 and started the car. Left it on for about 2min, rev it to about 3500 rpms.... the oil light went away See in the morning if any more problems arise Think im safe?
