I had a Neuspeed short shifter (not as nice as the BC assembly, but still shorter front-back throws than stock), then eventually took it back off. I agree, it's still pretty short stock, and I think I like it better this way.
I've also got an aluminum Honda **** on it (optional base RSX 5-spd, just like the CTR **** except for the pattern and letter color), and it feels pretty darned good overall. I've thought about an FG2 or S2K leather-aluminum **** for better hot & cold weather feel, though.

i tried to change the **** b ut that silver thing on the shift rubber that attaches to the stock shifter looked weird cuz it was just there so what after market **** do u recomend
short shifters are pretty much just another modification to make you feel like a good driver. you could save that 150 to get some power to the ground or many other parts that would help you. All you need is to shift your arm faster, pros still use stock shift levers, so why cant you?

There's a few things you can do with the shift boot & chromed plastic clip...
You could buy an OEM Type-R shift boot. It has a small chromed ring on top that goes well with any aftermarket ****, and a larger rubber boot to keep it from sagging. ICB Motorsport has them at a good price:

You could buy or fabricate another shift boot to replace the stock one. I've seen some in red-stitched suede that match the seats.
Also, the aluminum base RSX **** I mentioned came with an alternate black plastic ring that would replace the chrome clip. Supposedly, it's been available separately from Acura dealers, but you may have to do some digging to find it these days.
Lastly, and for free, you could somehow invert the stock clip & ring to clean up the top of the boot. I didn't quite figure it out myself and ended up snapping the clip tabs and supergluing everything together.
IMO, the best option is the CTR shift boot. Looks clean, factory fit, and really isn't any more expensive than the USDM boot.

Depends on what you're looking for! The Buddy Club S/S is about 150 and is a direct replacement assembly where as the Neuspeed is about 100 and is an adapter that is installed on the shifter!

It's cake; I can probably swap one for the other in fifteen minutes. The difficult part is pulling the fascia from the dash. Let's see how concise I can be...
- Pull the chrome ring down and unsnap it from the shift ****, then unscrew the ****.
- Poke your thumbs into the top of the shift boot and begin tugging -- gently -- at the silver part of the lower dash. There are three clips to unsnap; the difficult one for me is in the upper right.
- Disconnect the plug for the hazards button.
From here, it's easy -- you'll see three screws holding the shift boot to the dash piece. I think you'll be able to figure it out after that.
