94 B18b1, I swaped it into my civic worked fine.Then i swaped it to a manual. and it its hard to start and onece its started after me giving it gas and keeping the RPS up to about 3K for about a minute, the idel dips from like 1200 to 2000. I disconneted the IACV after the car was running and the idel went to about 850. wut is normally idel on this motor? and is my IACV bad?Please help i have searched and not much luck a simply yes or now to the IACV would be appriciated!!

it is possible your IACV is bad, but why didn't try adjusting the idle screw at the T/B first.

also, you said after you did the swap you went from auto to manual? why didn't you do it before when the old motor was out? did you connect the proper wires from the auto shifter?

 

i didnt have the money to do the auto to manual swap at the time. then i swapped in a Hydro GSR into it. I had heard aboput sdjusting the TC screw but it was ideling fine before i put the tranny in. and after its hard to start then it idle dips then when its fully warmed up it stays a 2000. is this just a bad IACV or can the TB screw be adjusted to idel correctly. cuz when i disconnected the plug off of the IACV it idleed at like 850 is that normally operating idle?

 

yes the screw can be used to adjust the idle, to an extent though. if something is bad, the screw won't do anything. but, since we really don't know what is going on, it is always easier when troubleshooting to weed out the most obvious.

i would say plug in your IACV back in. then try adjusting the screw and see what happens. you say it is idling at 2000. that is really high. not sure what non-vtec motors idle at, but if it's the same as vtec then it should idle at about 700 rpms.

 

wait a minute, i just noticed your signature, is your B18 turbo? if so, it's now a total different ball game.

 

no its not boosted yet, the turbo is laying around the car till i get this idle problem fixed, then the kit goes on. thats why i need this Fixed ASAP

try the screw like i mentioned earlier.

 

where is the screw located?

 

should be right above the air tubing, on the throttle body itself. i have seen some T/B with like a sealent over it. just apply some elbow grease to it to break the seal.
once broken, the idle can be adjusted.

 

Yea i turned the screw and it didnt change anything. i think its just my IACV.. well atleast i hope

 

i let the car warm up and it was still idleing the same... so i disconnected the IACV and it idled at like 700 or 800. i went in the car and just gave it some gas and it would only go to about 3500rpm. i pluged the IACV back in and it went back to idleing weird. Now, could it be that the 2 vaccum hoses are connected backwards, or ismy IACV bad?

 

hey it could be your pcv valve too but just get a new iacv

 

dont forget the Fast Idle Valve, its common that people overlook it, take off you intake and you will see a few holes pre-TB plug one at a time with your finger and see if idle improves, the one that improves it the most is your problem.

ps: the holes lead to IACV and FIV

 

the only thingi dont get is that i changed nothangon the motor, i changed the tranny and that was it, but i cant take off the IACV cuz the hoses are hard as expletive cuz its 5 degress out here in bullshit michigan
