Default Anyone had any internal MT problems? (D-series)

I was wondering if anyone had any internal d-series manual trans issues like a worn out input shaft bearing, etc. My bearing is gone on my trans. and I looking to find out if I really need to fix it, or I can live with the noise for a while. Thanks.

The ISB is the only bearing that tends to fail.

It's a $16 part, getting to it is a pain though.

I wouldn't ride on it for too long... I have teh same problem and have been riding on it for a couple months now... The only thing you can do is replace the bearing yourself or pick up a used one... And use the tranny you picked up until you build up the confidence to replace the ISB on the original tranny...

It looks like its cheaper to pickup a used manual trans rather than actually tear down the old one. Looks like a trip to the yard for me

no it's not. The part is 16 dollars.

you need a 10mm socket, a 12mm socket, 8mm allen wrench, three flatheads, a 3/8" rachet, a few 3/8" extensions

aside from those normal tools that you should already have, you need $2 of permatex ultra grey, and it would help if you spent an extra $16 to get a bearing puller like this to make the job easier.: http://www.harborfreight.com/c...=4876

either way you have to pull the trans off
