Well bro, they do have an exhaust specific to the civic ex, lx, dx, it's a magnaflow exhaust, check http://www.corsportusa.com and you can't change the *header* on the car because it is built directly into the engine block. But then again, you don't necasserily have to go for an exhaust specific to the ex, lx, dx, just have it custom bent, also they may need an adapter to go from the diamater of the exhaust to the downpipe.

I dunno maybe it's just me but it kinda seems a little more difficult to find parts for base model Civics vs. Si. Seems kinda unfair if you ask me. I go to a couple web sites and parts for the Si are in stock, but for the LX, DX, EX they are "TBA".

It does seem unfair, but the after market companies are going to go where the money is. Most poeple who have the money to upgrade will have spent the extra to get the Si. So their thinking is, get those parts to the market first. Usually people that get the LX, DX, or EX are working on a budget, so therefore, their parts can wait. It sucks, but it's all about the money.

/\ Ol' man has a point, that is where the money's at. Although another valid point is there is going to have to be a little more R&D on the engine type. I'm sure there has been an engine similar in design with this years base civic, but not exactly the same. And it's hard to work with since the header is built directly into the engine block.... ( f*ckin d-bags).

the R18 is a completely new motor whereas the K20 has been around for 4-5 years. The K20z1 in the Civic isn't identical to the K20 in RSX type S but they are pretty close. Also, the r18 was really designed for economy--most noticeable in the super siamesed exhaust "port"

the Z1 is in the RSX and the Z3 is in the Civic

Ya, true that the r18 is for economy purposes mostly, but think of the prior year civics, they were supposed to be somewhat economic and the HP was much lower on the non-si models. People still tweaked the sh*t out of them.

Actually.. the real reason (in my opinion) is not that the idea is people who have SI have more money.. it's that people with the SI are more inclined.

If you were a company designing this stuff, you would aim it at the SI over base levels right? People who buy the SI are (generally) more performance-inclined, whereas people driving D/L/EX are more in it for the economical, easy-to-maintain aspects and such.

Actually If I were the companies I would target all trim levels. Here in S.A. i've seen a bunch of modded LS, and GS Integras as well as base model older civics. Plus the Sis are soo limited that the base models are selling very rapidly among teens here. Don't know how it is in other places though!
