I'm wondering what you all think is a safe boost level to stay at for pump gas. I know it depends on the exact set up and tune, but heres what i'm running. I was thinking 16-17 psi should be alright. What do you all think? Also, any estimates on what hp it should make? Thanks in advance!

-cometic head gasket
-arp studs
-d16z6 head - ported, zex 59300 cam, upgraded springs, retainers, locks, adj. timing gear
-sc61 turbo and custom top mount manifold
-1000cc injectors

 

also the engine does have a block gaurd installed in it.

 

its all in the tuneup, i had 17psi on my old drag kit, and also did it with my f-r kit. we were way conservative both times.

 

Any guess on the hp for a set up like mine?

 

Assuming your motor responds to that turbo...I'd say 350whp would be reasonable, 400whp should be at your finger tips-- but your powerband is probably going to suck, IMO. Regardless, you car should haul. Oh yeah, psi isn't what you measure your engine's durability by. You measure in hp. I'd imagine you could do 350-400 pretty reliable, but I don't know a whole lot about D series sleeves, so I can't tell you when enough is enough.

Just remember, 17psi from a GT28RS, T3/T4 50, 54, 57, and 60 trim, or any other typical turbo doesn't equate to the same stress output as 17psi from an sc61. In fact, every different turbo will unload a different amount of stress on your motor at the same boost level.

Yeah thats why I posted up the set up. I know it depends on your exact set up. The powerband actually feels good in the car right now and its on low boost.
