Crank Pully Bolt Broken in Crank!!!!
I was doing and timing belt on my friends ls integra. Put the new belt on, started it, and the timing was off so i go to do it again. Get the impact gun on the crank pully bolt to take it off again,it moves a few threads out then stops. The gun cant turn it out. Im like wait what is happeneing, i just put this bolt in. So i keep trying and after a few times the head breaks off. Now i remember back to when i put it on it went on kinda hard but i didnt notice becuace i was using the impact gun. It cross-threaded all the way in and i dont know what to do! HELP PLEASE!
Its cross-threaded all the way in i dont think its coming out. Also the motor is in the car and dont want to pull the motor over this stupid mistake. Other wise i would bring the crank to a machine shop.

You'll probably end up pulling and replacing the crank. If the head of the bolt broke off, chances are any type of screw extractor is going to snap off as well. Drilling it is possible, but I've drilled bolts out before and the crank pulley bolt isnt one that I'd personally want to deal with (atleast without having it on a drill press).
That sucks man, your best bet is take the car to a machine shop and see if they can take out the broken bolt without taking out the crank. Good luck

Agreed. You shouldn't just whiz away with airtools, always start by hand.

i would try to drill out as much of the bolt as possible. make sure you start right in the center with a small bit and work up. drill it to as big as you can get it with out damaging the crank. pick out the remaindings of the bolt and run the tap through it.
you could also try to weld a nut to the end of the broken crank bolt if is sticking far enough out.
good luck.

this happened to me and i hit it with an ez-out the drill started to losen the bolt. After i noticed that i was able to turn it with a screwdriver slowly buy just tapping it in one direction but good luck i think i was just lucky

actually its a n allen wrench, i recommend this and a pull bar instead of a impact wrench, it puts less strain on the crank bearing and also..its easier..
