ok i have a strap wrench and high impact tools... i need to get the crank pully BOLT off..... i am impacting it to the LEFT if you are looking straight at the pully. i am doing it under the fenderwheel. i am turning it COUNTER-CLOCKWISE..... am i doing it correctly? because it seems like this bolt is never comming off...


just need to change my timing belt and it is being a pain!

If you've never pulled it off before, it's likely it won't come off easily (or in 1 piece).

There's a special tool (forgot the name) that you put around the crank bolt to hold the crank pulley in place. You then either use an impact wrench or a ratchet with a long breaker bar on it to loosen it. People have broken several wrenches and ratchets on this bolt.

As for me, I ordered a new one from the dealer and my neighbor went all out on it. The top of it snapped off and we drilled it out

how i get mine off is.. take the belts off....then use that vice grip with the chain on it i don't know whats its call but it'll hole that pully like a pitbull on a rag dog position the vice grip thing on the axle so when you turn it the axle well stop it form spinning use a extension so it goes pass the fender then use a 5 foot pole and slide it on the 1/2 rachet than put you weight at the end of the pole and it should do the trick


this is where the warranty for the tools come in handy as i went through three rachet

 

There is a Honda crank pulley tool you can purchase that is very useful..

OR

You can get a phat *** breaker bar (about 3 or 4') with about a 20" extention & 19mm.. put a big flat head screw driver/pry bar at the flywheel and take it off that way.

 

throw some heat to it and work it back and worth (loosen,tighten,loosen,tighten...etc.) and it should come free also you could try soaking the **** out of in PB blaster or something of that nature either way impact gun is your best bet....i did a timing belt/waterpump on my b16 and i snapped my timing belt (OEM honda one) trying to loosed the crank pulley bolt with a breaker bar.

 

when you say high impact tools... how high of an impact are we talking? Unless it is a serious impact gun it is useless...

 

That's the kind of thing you need. I couldn't find one when I needed it, so I made my own.

Think of it like this you will never be scared to do a timing belt again.
