Default XTD clutch

Looking for some reviews of XTD clutches and flywheels, from people who have actually had them installed on their car. I've yet to hear someone (who has actually used them) say something bad about them.

I use the XTD stuff.. worked awesome when it worked..

I may have destroyed the clutch preloading at 7k for several seconds, but that's my fault.

I had the xtd stage one. Suck like ***. You'll be happier with the stage 3 since alot of people uses them with no problems.

I've actually been thinking about the stage 2 kit (carbon kevlar disc, with lightweight flywheel) for my LS-Turbo setup. It's a daily driver and autocross car, and I'm not planning on going over about 240 on hp or tq. The stage 3 looks like a sprung 6-puck, and isn't that much more $, but it seems like it might be overkill for my setup.

ive heard bad things about some of those top name brands as well... to each his own.. my experience with a 400 dollar act was very bad. I would like to hear some more opinions with people who actually have tested these.. i might pick one up and test it myself just cause they are pretty cheap. and so far the xspower 57 trim has exceeded its reviews IMO.

well if you think you have bad expierences with the high end brands, and they put out thousands of dollars in time and engineering making their products imagine a knock off clutch!

just because some dont have problems dont mean you wont have problems, i have read about ppls clutch discs shattering!

Yes, from the first post I tried to narrow it down to people who had first-hand experience with these clutches. Sounds like you can break just about any clutch if you beat on it enough. If I break a clutch, I suppose I'd rather break one that is 250 shipped for the whole kit with flywheel.

that isnt exactly true, you hear more about people breaking cheap clutches than expendsive clutches

and you are also forgetting the damages that can be sustained from a shattered clutch/flywheel.

maybe if you shatter a cheap clutch it doesnt cost that much to be replaced

but a transmission isnt going to be cheap to replace

What do you do to break it in properly. More importantly, what DON'T you do?

I have used both the F1 and XTD Gripforce stage 2 and 3's clutch kits in my H22 crx and a customers no problems after 8k miles even inspected the clutch kit when I rebuilt my H22 normal wear no signs of problems, over a dozen passes on the track and daily drivin for year plus around 15k miles on it total...

btw, has anyone used a an Unorthodox Ultra L flywheel? I think it's the same flywheel that comes with the stage 2 xtd kit I ordered earlier today.

My xtd stage one didn't hold my boost d16 @ 9 lbs of boost. It said that the XTD stage 1 was good for 248ft/lbs and hold 250 HP. That is false information. I'm sure my d16 turbo is making nothing near the 200 hp mark. Oh well, it's not like I spend a leg on it anyways. Now rocking on an ACT. To me, I'll never go cheap again on clutch.

I too have had good expierences with XTD clutch kits.. I'm either gonna run a competition clutch on my boosted teg or the F1.. Both are priced fairly good.

I'm running the XTD stage 3 clutch kit and the flywheel. I have been happy with both so far. Been driving with the clutch for over a year, the flywheel a day (lol).. Quality seems fine to me and resembles ACTION clutch discs very very closely.. hmmm.

Like I said, I ordered the stage 2 kit. Its the same as the stage 3 kit, except for the carbon kevlar disc. If that doesn't hold, I'll just swap in a stage 3 disc down the road.

OK, I got my kit in the mail today, but they sent me the stage 3 (sprung 6-puck) instead of the stage 2 (carbon kevlar disc). Rather than hassling with returning it, I'm thinking of keeping it, especially since alot of you spoke highly of the stage 3. And its a little more peace of mind that the clutch will take everything I'll ever throw at it.

But my car is a daily driver, so I'm wondering how is city driving with the XTD stage 3?
