I need some help here, I'm perplexed. I have a stock VTEC del Sol- no modifications. I drive it somewhat hard, but it only has 90k miles and has been taken care of very well. I have had it for 7 years and since it had 24k. The car looks almost brand new and is in excellent shape.

My clutch worked well on the way to the restaurant and on the start of the drive home, but suddenly, the clutch seemed to have a problem disengaging and shifting. The clutch was not slipping, but there was some chatter upon shifting, and the main issue is that it didn't want to go into gear and the clutch lever itself was depressing very easily-too easily.

I really need some help troubleshooting this. It seems the fluid is a little low, but not super low. Could it be air in the lines? Could it be a leak? COuld it have just mis-adjusted itself? Is there an adjustment on the pedal that could have gotten knocked out? Best guesses? Anyone have this problem before?

I haven't investigated this yet, but I don't know much about transmissions/clutches so I really need help.

your clutch master cylinder must be messed up or just get your clutch bleeded. if it doesn't help just change your clutch.

By driving it hard do you mean burnin the clutch? if so your clutch could be done

No, I don't burn the clutch-- this seemed to happen way too fast to be a clutch, especially at 90k miles. I think it might be the master or at least a leak in the system. I will try to bleed it or see if I have a leak somewhere. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

u can check ur master from inside ur car. just pull down the carpet by ur clutch pedal and look at the firewall. if it leaks when u depress the clutch then it's a bad clutch master. i just had the same problem. darn easy fix. maybe 80 bucks for a new one at autozone.

If you do diagnose master cylinder or slave cylinder failure as the problem, I usually recommend replacing both of them at the same time rather than one. Typically when one fails, the other isn't far behind, and the agitation caused by replacing one and bleeding out the system will usually cause the other to fail shortly afterwards. Occasionally you can get away with just replacing the main failed piece, so it's worth a try to do one at a time - but just be prepared to replace the other within a few days or weeks in case it does fail.

Well, it's wet near the clutch lever on the firewall on the passenger side. Guess that makes this a no-brainer. Has anyone had any luck with non-honda clutch cylinders? (Never mind- ordering from partznet right now.)
