Isn't it ? I always thought everything above 66mm is too big for direct bolt on.
Please correct me if I'm wrong

It will bolt up, but you will be creating a very big air disturbance by going from a 70mm plate to a 62mm IM opening. I would be surprised if you don't loose HP.

Is there a difference between the BBK and the Spoon TB?? I ask, because i have a Spoon TB on my car and it didn't feel like i lost any hp, and throttle response was vastly improved.

the spoon tb is still 62mm at the butterfly plate, its taper-bored from 70mm opening to 62mm...

thanks for the replies in such a short time guys.. but just want to make it clear
will the BBK 70mm TB bolt on to the OEM ITR IM or not??

if it does then is it possible if i bore the stock IM to 70mm to match the TB?
will i get any gain on this or it will require some headwork before i see some gains?
thanks

YES, 70mm BBK will bolt-up to OEM intake manifold..

NO, you wont gain the full benefit of the larger bore until you match the IM port to the throttle body.

You WILL gain HP by port-matching the t-body to the IM. Port-matching these parts is the right way to go.

You do NOT need to get headwork done to gain from the t-body/IM combination.

On a personal note, I'll take Spoon's t-body over BBK any day. I can't say I've owned a BBK but I've heard way too many horror stories about BBK's product. I have experience with Spoon's t-body and nothing but good things to say about it.

Yes same with my EDELBROCK 65mm. Sticky as all hell, never works as its "supposed" to. DONT DO IT! Waste of time and money with little to no gains (maybe with High Compression or FI but not in bolt on config.)

I emailed the edelbrock help center and they told me to rub the inside with steel wool Some freakin help.

Thanks EDELBROCK for selling me garbage and doing nothing to remedy the problem.

PROBLEM= sticky throttle, erratic idle. When I first start the car it runs fine, but in order to give it gas, it requires a punch of the gas pedal,. (the butterfly edge sticks on the inside of the TB) Its been a royal pain in the *** and nothing but a hassle since install. Sure I have more HP now (+5 w/ ported AEBS IM, and edelbrock TB, but driveabilty has suffered)

I wish more than anything I had stuck with my OEM TB. So save yourself the trouble and get something else for the money. Maybe a HONDATA or some tuning device?

word to that. i had a 70mm bbk on my GSR and it stuck while shifting on the freeway. freaked me out and i had to PUNCH the gas pedal a few times until it came loose again.

not to mention, back then i didnt really know what i was doing mod-wise and i had this TB on a stock IM with an AEM CAI. i lost a few HP i'm sure, the only upside was the throttle response but it definitely was outweighed by the cons.

if these are your first mods, stick to something besides a TB. concentrate on other stuff first.

DO NOT GET THE BBK TB! I still have minds with a port match to the Mani, but I'm getting rid of the BBK! I have had so many issues with it! LOL I rather get the SPOON tb!

the stock TB is not that restrictive and one of the last things I would worry about upgrading. I learned my lesson and still have the stock TB and IM on my boosted setup, making awesome power. I would definitely benefit from an upgraded TB and IM, but on a NA setup its not worth it and there are other areas to improve first.

Look for Professional Products throttle bodies, they look just like OEM and have very good build quality. I have their 70mm and am very impressed with its build quality. Great price, only slightly more than sending yours out to maxbore, and larger than you could bore out to! sell the stock one & you'd end up spending less than sending it out to maxbore!

p.s. They also come in a matte finish just like OEM, rather than the *bling* polished finish in the picture (I got the matte finish, looks just like stock but BIGGER)
