Default Anyone got any fabs/hacks for Honda stock konck sensor?

Mine works, but works too well. It picks up the sounds from my forged pistons and retards timing unnecessarily . Are there any electrical tricks or location replacement fabs I can use without getting check light? When I had my old car, I removed it from the block and put it on the pwr steering pump bracket an it worked well. However my car now has eps.

Any ideas?

I was told a old GM knock sensor trick. That you can put silicone sealant on the tip of them. Let dry put back in block. Don't know if it will work, but can't hurt to try if your car is going psycho.

disable it in your tuning software. *click*

Easy, disable. The code is meant for a stock motor.

Anything else is just confusing it.

there is a guy on here who did a knock sensor bypass, it was a good 3 pages long, it will just take a bit of searching to find it

Just get your computer chipped and have them disable the knock sensor. How you you know its pulling a lot of timing?

Can you still use the stock knock for tuning?

platinum.

umm.. so you are running a stock ecu with a built engine? is it turbo I assume, since you know its pulling timing?

Maybe its going deadly lean from using a FMU setup and running 30 degrees of timing that its detonation which is slowing you down.

Yea its boosted.........Got lots of fuel, I only use the fmu to help out, my stand alone additional controller and additional injectors supply most of the additional fuel needed for boost.

Your fukcd. Read up. EMS or get out. Running an FMU is just asking for it..not a question of of, but when...

Do it right or do it twice.

Good luck.

can't you just ground the wire for the knock sensor?

No, that will give you an instant CEL.

IT might be a great injector controller, but you need something to change ignition timing too.

I know a lot of people add knock sensors by removing the one of the bolts for the alternator bracket and then welding a fitting (I believe it comes off the fuel rail some where) on the the back side of the bolt ad screw your knock sensor into that... Thats how I have my knock sensor wired in separately for my Power FC, it works really well and a Moderator on clubsi.com would recommend it as well.

ClubSi is filled with people who care more about what rims they have and whose girlfriend has the hottest ******* than what makes their car run right. March your *** over to pgmfi.org (or even listen to the *gasp* good replies to your question here!!!) and you'll find out that PowerFC IS NOT THE STOCK ECU. You'll also find out that CHIPPING AN ECU IS CHEAP. You're being ******* dumb. Disable the knock sensor, run (Crome,Neptune,Hondata) and be done with it. If you have $500 to spend on forged pistons, you have $500 to spend on management/tuning tools to avoid buying another set of pistons so STFU and buy your motor what it needs to run right.

p.s. if you feel like a really cheap bastard, I can refer you to several people in Washington who can help you get it together so you won't have to buy as much tuning gear.

Yeah, why dont you just chip your stock ecu. why do people run such unnecesary fuel managment in the first place, it limits you so much, otherwise you wowuldnt have had this problem in the first place. Stick with proven methods.

I was using it as an example. Thats how I run the knock on my car w/Power FC.

A mechanic on ClubSi.com, that has been working on cars longer then you've been born more and likely, has taught me this trick when JDM swaps first came over to the states and you had to add a knock a sensor when there was nothing to modify the stock ECU.

BTW, if you ever READ anything on ClubSi.com you'd find out there is a post with more information on PowerFC the there ever will be on HT.

Good luck with your decision.

I'm going to go back to clubsi.com now and go find out if my ex-gf still has the biggest **** and make sure I can still tuck 20" on my Integra.

That was me

If you want to bypass the sensor completely, here's the link: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1181854

But if you just want to calm it down a bit, I would wire a resistor into the sensor wire. If you toy with some different resistor values, you can decrease the voltage strength going to the ECU enough that it won't pull timing. You have to be careful though - if you use too high of a resistance, the ECU will assume that the sensor is broken and give you a constant CEL.

If you use the right resistor value, it will "dumb" down the sensor a bit so that it still pulls timing during actual instances of knock, but it won't react to normal engine noises.</TD></TR></TABLE>

I think this is the answer to my prob. I just need to calm down the sensor a bit. I'll try this
Do you think probably 5ohms resistor?
