Default Are these DSS axles??

I got these from someone and he told me they are driveshaft shop stage 5 axles with type-r spindles (DSS hubs/arp extended studs). Can anyone tell me what they are? DSS or not? He said he bought them in 2002-2003. That rusty axle is a stock gs-r for comparison purposes. Thanks.

The axle in the top pic on the bottom looks to be a aftermarket unit , the spindle side looks alot bigger than the others

In the first and third pic with all three sitting there, the one in the middle makes me 100% sure that it is a DSS axle. Frank puts a stub splined insert in the passengers side axle tri-pod. Unless somebody else was doing that too!

I would say it's a stage 5. I had stage 3's and they where bigger than the 5's.

they look like a old stage 2 dss, i used to have a set, shaft looks just alittle thicker then stock, the boots were black, and the joints were def bigger, but if it has a 36mm nut it would not be a DSS unless its a stg 3 or bigger, and then they are DEF bigger
i would guess either a outter joint was changed or maybe upgraded but deff aftermarket of some kind

hope this helps

If they were a Stage 2 then no hub change would be needed. I was waiting for someone to mention the different boot colors , DSS didn't start doing that until late 2003 to early 2004 I believe, it could have been later than that. I have some DSS Stage 3s pucrahsed in like 2003 , since I needed one boot I have one green boot on the driver's side axle the rest are black.

These are Stage 3 or Stage 5. DSS has continually improved on their stages, almost every year they make old Stage 5s stage 3s then old Stage 6s become Stage 5s etc etc . Wish I could be more help on it though Maybe I can get a caliper on my spline and measure that for you. I will try that

I did the best I could measuring the spline with my slicks still on the car, the best reading I could get and is TOTALLY off is .928" which equals 23.57mm, so it seems to be alittle off.like I said
