01 Civic won't start in cold weather

Default 01 Civic won't start in cold weather

Hi I am new to the forum we own a 2001 Civic EX. Its been a good car exept recently during a cold snap the car will not start in the morning when it's cold out out here in AZ that's 25 to 30 F. in the early morning. come back later when its around 50 or so and it starts up fine. there are no warning lites on. HELP

if you are still running the original battery that came with the car in 2001, you're best bet is replacing the battery.

NO I don't have the original battery. But I do think that the Honda its very voltage sentsitive. In other words if it gets cold out and the batt drops during the night it won't start It cranks fine just not start. I think the batt may be the problem I am thinking of putting a gel cel batt in what do think? lots of money but maybe the answer.

Sounds like a battery. My civic starts right up every morning, and I'm in New England.

Doesn't sound like the battery, if it was the battery it wouldn't turn over like normal, he says he comes back later and it starts fine when the temps are up. If the battery were unable to turn the car over, letting it sit wouldn't change that. Sounds like the opposite of the Accord main relay problem. Do our civics have a main relay that can be affected by the weather?
