Default What will it take to get into the 8's in the 1/8th mile?

E/T: 9.18 @ 76.8, .58 R/T, 2.1 60 ft. (totally stock)

I plan on going out again tonight and getting into the 8's with lower tire pressures and HOPING the track will hook up better than last week.

I spun all the way through 2nd every pass, launching @ 2000-2500 with consistent 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 60 ft's. But it was kinda humid, and pretty chilly, so that must be why I couldn't hook for crap. But for the car getting where I wanted it in ways of stock times, I am happy as it sits right now. I am looking for 8's tonight though. If I can break into the 8's, I will be happy.

Is there anything I can do, without spending money on mods, (TOTALLY STOCK) to get into the 8's? I know a lower 60 ft time, along with a good sticky track will probably get me there...

Too late... it's not your car of choice, but it is mine...

So if you guys don't have anything CONSTRUCTIVE to add, like Blind_Attack, suck it up and deal with it.

i am running 2.2 60 ft. times in my stock civic. and i know that my boy with his 70 318 dart on falken ziex 512 is running like a 2.0 60ft. adn 8.9 in the 1/8 th so hopefully the humidity will come down maybe ride the clutch a little more to bring that 60ft down and you can get in the 8's.

How was what he said constructive? He reiterated one thing you already said and one thing that was completely false.

Without spending money....
1.) Drop the tire pressure
2.) Go on the least amount of fuel possible
3.) Pull weight (i.e. seats, spare) out

I don't know if you want to pull weight out... as this may not fit your TOTALLY STOCK idea... but dropping tire pressure isn't exactly stock either. So depending on what you think of as TOTALLY STOCK, you've got atleast three options to play with. And if you can't figure more out or they don't work... put another driver in or drive better.

Good luck.

Dropping the tire pressure on stock street tires is bad, no?

Not really. There is potential to bring the times down by doing it. Just depends on how far you want to drop the pressure. For example, 13 psi, 18 psi, 24 psi, and so on. Don't know if it's bad to go down to 13 psi, i don't know if the tires are designed to handle it like slicks are. One would be alright with the 20 psi area.

no they are not a good way to get the right idea of tire pressure for a pure street tire is do a short burn out and look at the marks. If it is darker in the middle lower the air pressure, if it is darker on the outsides add pressure. And when you do your burn out before the run roll around the water box, do a short burn out to get the small rocks and dust off of your tires and warm them up a small bit, i am talking about a rolling them over a couple of times and that is it. Doing a 30 sec. burn in the water box does nothing but waste street tires and spray water in the fenderwale to fall down on the tire once you slow down and stop to stage up.

If you have to get water on the tires to do a burn out roll through roll them over and move forward out of the waterbox as to not spray water in the wales
