Default Blown D16a6

bought the crx knowing it had a blown motor. NOw what to do with it????

But here are some pics.

Not sure what to do now though. The motor and tranny has 220,000 miles on it. I am not sure if the tranny is bad or good.
I know the crx needs new axles, and a lower cross member(the passanger side wheel is pushed back towards the rear), brake master cylinder and booster.

*I'd like to turbo an A6 or sohcZC. Let me know if you have any suggestions for me!

there's no way to repair that hole. Either get a new motor, or get a new block and rebuild the enitire thing.

Check out tiger japanese as well, their shipping isn't all that bad. Or the classifieds here.

I found a d16a6 local for $300 with tranny. it has 200k, and needs timing belt/water pump replaced. No oil leaks.
Worth it?

I was also thinking that since I needed axles, tranny, and motor: that maybe a B-series motor wouldn't be a bad idea right about now.

If you do that check your local junk yard (U-pull-its are the best) and look for 90-93 Integras, 90-91 would be ideal since they are OBD0 and so is your car but you can convert a 92+ motor to OBD0 or your car to OBD1 to accomidate that option..or if you can find a 90-93 Integra for cheap and have the free parking space you can pull alot of parts off of it for the swap

I second the no. You'll have to rebuild/replace all the seals and gaskets on the engine and bearings/synchros on the tranny. Or at least you should. If you go this route I say just get a fresh SOHC ZC swap for ~$400 from hmotors or tiger japanese.

I think the SOHC ZC is the better deal too.

The local motor would probably just be temporary untill I have the money for a turbo set-up.

The sohc zc motor and trans from HMO is $395(motor)+150(trans)+$225(shipping)=$770***then I will need to change the timing belt and water pump before I put it in.

You could possibly save some money on the tranny. Take off the old one and crack it open, inspect the bearings and synchros/needle bearings then see if it's rebuildable. I use my stock Si tranny with 270K on it on my DOHC ZC, it's not perfect but it's still good. I cracked it open this summer thinking it was bad but only the bearings needed to be changed, so it was an $80 fix. Just my $0.02. BTW, did you check out http://www.tigerjapanese.com? They usually have lower shipping rates than hmotors (to WI at least, not sure about your state).
Edit: just checked out tiger fro shipping to KS and it's $210

I agree. people don't seem to understand that OBD0 JDM motors may have low miles but are still 15+ years old and mostlikely been just sitting in a warehouse with no fluids in them and rotting out seals...if you swap in any used motor it would benifit froma rebuild but atleast do the HG and timing belt...

My opinion is to stay USDM since you will not have to pay the JDM mark up because the a6 block says zc on it....probably find a nice z6 swap locally for the same price if not less than a JDM ZC
