my rex is acting up, help me solve this problem
all of a sudden my, at idle, my tack. jumps from just under 500rpms to just over 1000rpms and when i rev it with lights on the lights brighten and when the rpms drop, the lights dim and sometimes (with lights on) my tac. loses power and i have no rpm reading untill i give it gas.
any ideas?

Check to make sure your distributor is not loose (as in the three bolts that hold to the cylinder head) and check the thick wire at alternator to make sure that it's tight. The tach jumping around is a interuppted signal from the distributor, and if you have lights dimming and brightening the alternator is having issues.
i have a somewhat new alternator (it was in my old rex for about a year) and i checked all the connections and i made sure my distributer is tight. the car still starts most of the time and like i said everything tight, if my alternator is bad how can i test it at home?
go to autozone they can check your altenator in your car for free and they can check your whole electrical system as well for free, def a great service.
