Default lights dime down

ok I have a 1997 ek hatch with a b20 my problem is that when in stoped a red light my lights dime down but when I start going at
about 3500 rpm the light go back to normal and you can feel a extra push in power can any one help me with my problem or just
steer me in the rit direction thanks

Check all your grounds and alternator connections...
check output of alternator at low rpm...

if all grounds and connections are good then the alternator/regulator is on it's way out...

my guy works at napa auto parts and he checked the alternator came out good and I have hks ground kit but I havent installed it

I'd check the grounds then, there really isn't anything else in the system that will cause a voltage drop. if a fuse is blown, it's blown = no voltage. If a relay is busted, it's busted = no voltage.

Lights dimming + loss of power points to a drop in voltage or bad connection.

a little dimming is normal, but a lot is not.

a battery on its way out will do this also.

Something to think about, the NAPA test on alternators simply tests if it produces power. Not if it produces full power. You could have one or two diodes bad in the alternator and it would still look good to NAPA techs yet not produce as much power as it should.

I just changed the batery but im going to change the ground wires and alternator I think it will solve my problem thanks
