Default Interesting Electrical Problem

Hey everyone, I just purchased a awesome looking CD7 and was working on it and came across a weird problem. Now there was an aftermarket Panasonic cd player in it, where the person did not buy a conversion harness, they just lopped off the original and did a horrible job in connecting everything. Well I went by a wrecked accord and replaced the plug, connected all the wires and poof, nothing happens. I did notice the following to help preface the problem...

1) a wire was running from #1 (10 A) fuse in the interior fuse box into one of the cables of the ghetto splice job (i'm guessing the +12 line)

The weird thing that happens is the following:

1) turn on car and headlights off, clock is very dim and cd player doesn't turn on
--- however if i push in the clock thing it brightens and the Alarm light (red led) on cdplayer lights up, however rest will not turn on

2) With headlights on, clock is very dim, and cd player will not turn on at all

My thoughts first were possibly a bad connection, checked them all any they're ok

But the wire that was running to the fuse box came to my mind, I'm guessing they did it to add power to the connection and power on the aftermarket player. Well I've tried doing that and what not and it doesnt' work at all. The fuses check out fine , etc. The only odd thing was that the yellow w/red strip cable ( +12v line) does not exist in the harness coming from the car, it's just a white w/ red strip. But it was the only one left and all others lined up. Does anyone have any suggestions to test?

1) clock dim
2) cd player not working
etc

I think its just not getting enough power but dunno why? And I do not believe the cigarette lighter is working on it either. Does anyone have any ideas? Should I be checking for bad fuses or what?

Any help is appreciated

Also should note the dimmer works and all other interior lighting works fine, it's just the center console area that's gunking up

check the back up radio fuse, it believe its a 7.5 and check the cig lighter fuse which i believe is a 15. They are both under the hood. I ended up just running another power wire from the battery to my headunit with a fuse because i needed more 12v than the other wire could handle. If your fuses are good (which i doubt they are) then try running a wire from the battery to the headunit with a fuse incase something happens. If that still won't turn it on try another headunit.. maybe theres something wrong with that one.

But, just check those two fuses, i know they pop easily if you short out.

the 7.5 under the hood was out but the 10 was ok, so I checked the rest of them and I had blown the 10A radio motor antenna crap one or whatever on the interior box. Got it working, thanks a bunch sony
