what's better for hid's?
HID are allways brighter. But, that is not necessarily a good thing. An unproperly set up HID kit can blind other drivers comming towards you. THe only safe and pratical HID set-up is a retrofit with OEM HID from another car.

Were did you say anything about retrofit????
It really wouldn't matter wich light you use. You have to remove most of the lense for the retrofit anyway.

If you had to pick from those two, I would use the OEM housing. I'm going to use the H4H HID conversion from http://www.camp1320.com on my JDM housing lights. I know that the light output with be 10x better if I retrofitted projectors from an Audi, BMW, etc; but I don't have the time to do that.

one thing to though is the projector lights usually have a clearer lens. The oem might break the light up some. Im going to try to swap the lens from the projector housing onto a OEM back. We will see what happens.
Sounds like you are asking which housing is better to just slap some HIDs into, right? Not which is better for a retrofit...
Anyway.. If you can get the gas chamber of the HID bulb to sit exactly where the halogen chamber sits, you can theoretically get pretty good results from after market projectors. Notice: I only read about a guy doing this and getting good results, I have no experience actually doing it [though I started the process once and had to give up due to funds].
Anyway.. Your best bet is to do an OEM HID projector retrofit into either the stock housing or after market projector housings. They will probably work the same [assuming both have clear lenses]. However, it would probably be easier to swap the foglight projector from the after market projectors with the OEM HID projector...

That's what I currently have.. You need at least some Casper H4 Shields for that set up, but you get the shitty stock beam pattern and a fair amount of glare.. You'll have to aim your headlights pretty much as low as they can go or you'll blind people..

so youre wondering if you should buy some ebay projectors and put HID's in'em?
i've never had ebay projectors so i couldnt tell you. but the stock headlights with hid's make crazy glare

so basically any civic can use any HID from ACURA TL (4300k) ..are those just plug in and play...i noticed theres is no ballast.....so its just like installing a regular lamp but we ought to use the H4 casper for the bulb to sit on...right?
