when was the last time you CHECKED your oil?

could be a bad pump
could be bad sending unit
could be oil way past due for a change

My my 5th gen light would flicker from time to time going fast around turns. Then go off. My oil was more than a quart low. (Like not even on the dipstick) I was lucky nothing catostrophic happened.

And for the record? How do you not know how to check your oil? Pull up the thing. Wipe it off. Stick it in. Look and see if oil between the two holes.

The screen on the oil pickup to the pump could be getting clogged up. I would keep a close eye on it, and make sure it doesn't get worse.

How often does that occur and is it a good idea to clean it?
I know when I start my car, for maybe a second or two the oil light will turn on. Doesn't seem common with most cars. Also my car seems to have a crapload of valve ticking when it's cold making me think oil might have a hard time getting around. It takes a while for the ticking to stop. It might be a poor theory but if it isn't hard to do I'll do it.

that is not normal. you are starving the head/engine of oil when that light is on. not good.

it could be a problem with the pick up but most of the time when the pump is going bad it won't have pressure at idle and get pressure when u give it some gas but first thing first check the oil u gotta keep an eye on that stuff i mean i don't get y people spend thousands of dollars on cars and just beat the hell out of them cause they don't want to do stuff that is so quick and easy to do

You must add oil now!! If you let it keep going like that, you will spin a main bearing, and receive the dreaded bottom-end-noise......not good. Has your car ever overheated?

well the light is on for a second and then goes away. I know the lights turn on when I have the key in, which is normal, but once I start the engine it stays on only for a second or two. I think I'm far from starving the car of oil but Hondas are known for being noisy with their valves anyway.. so I'm not to sure what to think about it.
and yeah silver is right probably. On a break that seems logical... just not enough oil. It probably wouldnt be an oil delivery issue?

could be your oil pressure switch, only 9 bucks change thAT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. i suggest if you're thinking of replacing it wait untill your oil change is due, it's right above your oil filter.

Yea, Honda valves are known to be audible, but you should be getting the valves adjusted every 15-20K. I don't think it would be an oil delivery issue, as the oil light would stay on much longer. In this case as soon as the pick-up screen sees oil, and creates pressue, your light shuts back off

yeah, my oil light goes off pretty fast, I just think it's slow on building up the pressure or something.
I did get the valves adjusted not to long ago and it didn't alleviate the noise issue so I'm not sure what's up. I might be able to conclude that the shop that did it, didn't do it right but I know there are other things that cause knocking valves.
I'm going to run SeaFoam through the engine soon, which I know it needs since the engine has never been cleaned out with 175,000 miles.
Also the timing belt is due for a change so that might help once it gets done.
We shall see, it will all be done by January.

Another note, that SeaFoam that cleans out the engine, might clean up some sludge that may be plugging up an oil leak somewhere, so be careful

yeah I know it can dry up gaskets also so I'm not going to go overboard with it. I'll just do maybe a little under what is recommended..

u don't use the seafoam in the oil thats not what is is for it is a decarbonizer u run it through a vacuum line on the intake and it cleans deposits on the valves injetors and passages u may get slight blow by in the oil but not enough to cause any damage and if u do just before u do ur oil change it should be fine
