Who has put headers on a D15Z1?

where did you install the O2 sensor?

did you just relocate your CAT after the headers?

WHat difference did you notice in performance?

 

I was thinking about putting a header on my d15z1, but I decided that I would save the money and do a swap.

 

Leave it stock, it's pointless.

 

If I do a swap it'll be a D-series swap, so, I can still use the headers...not pointless.

Anyone done what I'm asking?

Are you sayin there isnt enough back-pressure and you'll loose low end torque?

Anyone have real life experience or numbers to back this up?

When I put a header on my bone stock B18B1, I lost low end, and got an ugly sound out of it, to boot. And a B18B1 is a lot more robust motor than a D15Z1. Your motor is a lean, mean, gas-saving machine. It's been carefully build by Honda's R&D to get the most of it as possible. Bolt-on modding it for power is just retarded. If you want some serious **** about a D-Series motors with VX parts, talk to Bense.

No, I'm saying it's minimal gains that aren't free, and come with consequences. Header on stock D-series = crap.

It's not bad on motor. Its bad for gas mileage.

Im not sure theres much you can bolt on to a D15Z1 (or any D series) for more performance... Unless you reinforce the **** out of it, add a D16 head and go turbo .

 

Everything that's been said is total bullshit. It wont hurt your car in any way. It's not going to hurt your power curve. If someone put a header in their car and lost low end, they should have researched more about headers and chose a more appropriate header for their application.

Just get a normal cat and move it back to the stock location for a DX.

with the d15z1 pistons it does, around 8:1 i think.

put the header on when you do the d swap. i have a d15z1 and im not going to touch it unless I get a full swap.

 

If you're worried about fitment, check the gasket part numbers.

you'll lose low end power, but gain it up top. d15z1 = no power in high rpms, look at the intake manifold and throttlebody.

If you're doing this for performance, you're better off buying some beer. But if your header is rusting apart, and you plan on getting some other "high rpm D-series" or plan on 'optimizing' your d15z1 then I'd go for it.


If you want power out of D-series, it's going to take a lot of work and a lot of research. If this is what you enjoy, then you're going to have to learn to do some of this yourself. If I were you, I'd look into replacing the gears. scooping up a busted ex trans and putting them in your trans is going to be the best bang for the buck. I must warn you, once you do this you'll start saying "man, this thing has some potential" and your wallet will remain pissed for a logn while. Good luck.
