Default Horn blowing when on jacks?

I was out working on my EM1 today, when I jacked up the front end the horn started blowing in short bursts. It stopped when I lowered it back down a few inches. I don't have an alarm, just the stock power locks and panic button alarm. The doors were unlocked at the time and after I went to get in it and the were locked. Anybody know what the deal is?

that sounds to me like some kind of factory antitheft, disconnect one of your battery terminals next time.

Ya, sounds like a tilt sensor or a mercury switch.

I wouldn't worry about it, just d/c the neg battery term b4 poppin it up.

I am the original owner, I bought it off the lot in 2000 when it had 37 miles on it so I know it was not an alarm. I wasn't aware the stock system had a tilt switch? I wasn't sitting on my keys either, they were in the house.

It could be a number of things. I had the front end of my '01 GTI jacked up while I was testing the wires to see if there was an AC short (AC wasn't working) and the airbag light came on .

Lots of sensors, I wouldn't worry about it.
