I just searched for 45 minutes and didn't find anything. I just put in my old si cd player into my eg and only the screen lit up not the buttons. Should it do this or do I have a blown fuse? Or is it something else?

Already have the code the radio works fine. The buttons don't light up thats all.

the buttons light up with illumination. make sure you connect the wires for illumination, and dimmer in your harness and they will light up.

Im not sure about this but have u tried turning on your headlights? Maybe its connected to that some way...

If you don't have your parking lights or headlights on, only the screen will light up.

 

At night with my headlights on the buttons still don't light up.

 

your harness that plugs into the car should have an ill. wire. hook it to the ill wire on the deck harness, then if the harness that plugs into the carhas a dimmer wire hook the decks dimmer wire to it, if not just ground it. try that and lemme know.

the deck harness has 13 wires where the car harness has 11. Does this mean that I cannot hook up the random dimmer wire that comes from the deck harness to anything?

 

i got this same problem, but mine is in a 98 civic hatch. my buttons dont light up only my screen. any help would be cool

 

your harness for your radio is missing a wire. the empty slot above the dimmer wire and beside your 12 mem. wire is where the illum + goes. strip a wire and put it in the empty slot. also your car harness does not have the illum wire either. you can tap into the wire in the cars oem harness or the easiest thing to do would be this. put the wire in the empty slot on your radio harness and tie it in with the red acc. wire. then take the dimmer wire thats already in the harness and tie it in with the black ground wire. then the entire face will illuminate with the key. if you want, go to best buy and get the metra reverse harness 71-1721 i belive, as it has both ill., and dimmer wires in it. i have an si cd player in my garage for a shop radio and thats the harness i used and mine lights up perfect. hope this helps. the pictures told all. good luck.
