a weird question???
Hello, I just have this one weird question that I just can't answer my self.
First lets go thrugh some facts:
FMU costs about $100 and is almost safe to run til 6psi (right
). A chipped crome ECU is about $100 + some free Turbobasemap.bin.
So what would be better overall, with B18B Turbo running 6psi (maybe less til a dyno tune), to run FMU or a Chipped ECU (crome) with rich base map.
Thank you

well lets go back a little, what type of fuel system do you have? Injectors? That's going to make a difference too. because to run something like chrome with more boost you'll have to have some bigger injectors (ex. 450cc) resistor box, and larger fuel pump. also a 10:1 or 12:1 FMU will go past 6psi, but you'll have to get a "missing link" or some check valves for the MAP Sensor. an AFC of some kind would help with an FMU set up too. Hope this helps.
Why risk it. For as easy as it is to run a programable setup..... For 6 psi, he doesn't need a fuel pump. Hell, he probably doesn't even need injectors... never researched that though.
Why do you want to run an FMU? Money? How much do you have into the turbo setup? What do you do with the car? SSAC???

I did do research, and here's my plan.
Get the whole turbo setup going on stock engine (runnign 5-6psi), just to see how the whole turbo setup work's, while building B18B with pistons, rods, valve springs so its safe to run 10-12psi on it (the when the engine is built and in, get it dynotuned with crome). The reason why I was asking about FMU vs. Crome is because either will cost around $100 and will pretty much do the same thing. I will do DSM 450cc injectors and resistor box if I get crome.

FMU only adds fuel. Definetly not doing the same thing as chrome. So basically, your getting a fully adjustable setup, for the price of an FMU
You can run 10-12 on a stock engine. Better to build, sure, but not absolutley necessary. Do it right, from the start, have fun at 10 psi, and wait til the motor dies. If done right, that could be a while though.

I agree. If i were you i would just get crome and a tune.
