ECG SMC or FMU vortech 12:1
Here is my objectives:
Running 8 PSi on a stock internals b18b with a TD04HL blower and 2G talon Intercooler
Here is my question.
I am pretty much new to turbos but wishing to learn more. I got my tubo and I am in the process of choosing a fuel management system for my project. As what I've heard, I came to 2 choices. One, would be buying a ECG SMC , 4 X 450 injectors a resistor box (200$Us...) or get myself a Vortech FMU 12:1. I don't need much of tuning, everyday driving car and willing to pay minimum but still having good and reliable car. Please give me the pro and cons...
Btw... If I use a 12:1 FMU... how would the OEM honda b18b MAP read the boost? Would it trigger my check engine or would it cause any other problems?
Thanks

I'm in a very similar position - I've got a stock B18b1 running 7psi with a 12:1 FMU. I got the FMU and inline fuel pump (which you WILL need with an FMU) for a good price, and at the time I wasn't too sure about the SMC, but at this point, I think it's pretty much proven itself, and for the price, with for a low boost application, you can't beat it. Wow, that was a long sentance...

I know guys have had good success with the SMC but I will give you a real world experience from an unbiased source. I also post on ClubSi and the bias seems to be toward supported products so, I will tell you my experience with this product.
It is not a pretty product that you will want to show your friends. When I used it I noticed that at certain RPMs It would make the car jerk like taking out the clutch too quick. It did not make better horse power on the dyno and I could not get rid of the CEL light.
It was not a product I would recommend. Hope you have better luck!

you have to remember that it is now upgraded to the SMC+. Twice as much adjustability. The reason for the jerk we a sudden over irch problem in the 2 dial (rpm range) of the origanal SMC. Anyone with reviews on it?

Understand that with the FMU you will need:
1) A high pressure fuel pump. Airtex & MSD inline work fine. Walbro intank WILL NOT DO IT.
2) Missing link / check valves.

Well I ahve heard of a lot more bad stories with the FMU's than with the smc+. The new SMC+ is a big advance over the previous one in clearing up those issues mentioned. From what I hear if you have the old SMC and want to upgrade it, the guy does the upgrade for relatively cheap. I may be completely wrong but I believe it was something like $10 plus hipping for the upgrade. I would (and am going to) go with the smc. FMU's have a tendency to lean out sometimes and what not. Injectors just aren't meant to run at near 100% duty cycle.

So because I dont have this, does this mean that im leaning out?? I had my car dyno tuned and it is perfectly fine...I do have a 225lph in tank..I know that it does not flow 255lph at our fuel pressures but what exactly will not runnin one do??
Don't use a Walbro intank with a 12:1 FMU. It CANNOT create enough fuel pressure:
