Default Timing belt keeps slipping. Valves bent or broken?

I was driving dow the road today, accelerating, and then I suddenly just let off the gas.

When I went to go again, the car kept sputtering and spasming. I figured, out of gas. I popped it outta gear and cruised over to the side of the road, where it stalled out. Wouldn't restart.

A buddy of mine brought me some gas, it started, but ran like ***. Eventually it wouldn't restart.

We checked the timing belt cause I had trouble tightening it when I did the Headgasket a week ago. The tensioner wouldn't stay very tight. The belt wasn't lining up the crank and cam pulleys, so we pulled off the belt, lined them both up and put it back on. The belt kept slipping and the car wouldn't start.

So, I towed it home and here I am.

Would the timing belt slipping like that cause valves to bend or break? I've got a new one already ordered from last Tuesday. I'm starting to worry...

BTW: On the crank pulley, there are three little dashes, a space, then one dash. Is my TDC mark the one lone dash?

Yeah, our engines are interference engines, so there's a pretty good chance you bent your valves. You said it keeps slipping? I don't understand, something must be really buggered on it.

Oh, sorry, SOHC ZC. (D16A6)

I know the tensioner sucks. I was wondering if I could have broken anything if the belt just slipped. It didn't break, it just got off time.

my belt slipped on my DOHC zc, nothign bent, and i was doign 70 down the highway.

reset the belt, new tensioner, and do a compression test, this will tell you if you bent anything.

yeah the car just needs to crank, when you do a compression test you disable it, so it wont start
