Need help with stock/aftermarket foglight hybrid.
Okay so I’m trying to install some 1 3/4 inch after market foggies on my ‘94 prelude.
I want to mount them in the OEM spots located to the sides of the lower grill.
Once installed I will shroud the ugly thing with some fiberglass or something, it’ll look pretty sveet.
Now my question: Can I utilize the stock harness that’s already plumbed into the car?
Here is the diagram that came with the light.

I also wish to use a stock fog light switch. Cause lets face it, this thing
is UGLY.
Now I’ve seen two different stock fog light switches on the web.

One looks like it fits into the longer auxiliary spaces in the back (by the armrest).

However; the harness does not reach that far. The other ones that I have seen are smaller, much like the hazard and look like they should pop into the open space to the right. Is that the same one that is in the BB6? Would the one from the BB6 work.
***Edit*** well after re-reading a few posts I learned that the 94-96 switch is the shorter rounder one. Is that the same as the bb6 one? I take it the longer, older style is the JDM one?
So assuming that I connected the after market lights to the OEM harness
then plugged it the proper click switch what would be missing. Basically what would make this work? Just the relay right? I don’t know much about automotive so anything you guys can teach me would be much appreciated.

The OEM diagram includes a relay, the aftermarket dosen't. This is going to be better. As for the details on what switch you need I can't help. I'm sure a quick seach will turn up what you need.
I reviewed some search items over and over, I think I need the shorter one that plugs in near the hazzard, hence the read the wire isnt long enought.
Do you mean that the after market wire layout is better? Fuse opposed to relay? The problem is that the fuse is on the crappy aftermarket switch. Unless... can I cut the power wire off the oem harness and solder or connect the red wire from the kit to it and bypass the relay that way? The relay seems safer though...
Still kinda lost but getting there. I didn't see anything in my Helms about this oem diagram. But that's prolly because is a usdm book.
***Follow up*** Well I think I will just try to get my mits on a oem switch, buy a 4 pin from kragen, and connect the after markees up the the oem harness. The relay and fuse should save me from any damage that could occure to my car right?

lol get your mits on a switch...lol you sound like lude_behavi0r and I....
know that you can just splice into the parking lights to power foglights....there is enough power in that circuit to run foglights, parking lights, and sidemarkers on my car...

Black to Black, Red to White? But then your running the foggies with your lights full time, I guess the plus side of that is you can high beam with your foglights on. It would make a good temp till I get the switch, but then I have a trashed parking light harness left over.
So theoretically I can splice the foglights into the oem harness, get a usdm switch and like a bosche 4-pin and make it work?

I have never really bothered to look into the factory foglight wiring setup
All I know is what I said above
But, I cannot recommend this enough....get a multimeter before you do any electrical work on your lude

pretty much yeah. also resistance / temp / other things if its fancy.
but yeah i suggest running it off the parking lights also. i just spliced it into the side marker power and another to the battery & ground.
you don't have to mess with finding a switch or using their crappy one

Sorry I didnt reply to your PM sooner.
Basically all you would need to do is connect a 4 pin relay to the harness that you located way under the dash (relay from autozone works...brand = PILOT)
After you connect that all you would need to do is cut and splice your foggies into the wire harness in the front bumper (the one you have hanging out in the picture)
Make sure there is a 15amp fuse in the #3 fuse spot in the kickpanel fuse box (by your feet in the drivers seat)
Then connect an OEM switch to the connect that should have been taped to your hazard light switch with blue tape (which is what everyone has said the fog light harnesses are taped with)
After you connected that turn the headlights one and hit the switch...All should work!
If you need anything else then let me know.

So I was rooting around the pick-and-pull with my friend and happened to look in a Volvo that was there and noticed that it had a semi-decent looking foglight switch. So I pulled it out of the dash, and low-an-behold it has a basic 3-prong set-up on the back, so $2 later (cheaper than any Kragen switch) I have a semi decent switch that actually fits (slight modding needed). Just one delema... I'm not sure which prongs go where, and I can't seem to I.D the prelude harness either.
Here is the botom of the switch.

I'm guessing that: the (+) goes to battery
the (31) is ground???
the (S) is to the lights???
can anybody wager a guess?
PART II of my questions. Which is which on the OEM harness?

I have no clue which wires are which.
Thanks
